Town Council again talks wind energy

The East Greenwich Town Council amended the town municipal code Monday night, further changing the standards pertaining to Wind Energy Facilities.
What was supposed to be a third reading of the amendments made to the code turned into another change, moving the third public reading to the next town council meeting on Oct. 27.
Council Vice President Jeffrey Cianciolo made the motion to amend the code regarding the height of the allowed wind turbines in the permitted areas. The ordinance was drafted in 2013 as a response to State Legislature beginning to incentivize wind power through the use of turbines in certain zones. EG previously had no regulations regarding wind turbines, and since, the planning board and town council have been working together on the detail of the code.
