Objections are being lodged in response to a proposed 160ft wind turbine in the green belt to the north of Sheffield.
Residents of Stocksbridge, Bolsterstone, Penistone and Hunshelf are opposing the application for a site at Dyson Cote Farm in the Upper Don Valley near Penistone.
The protest is being co-ordinated by Upper Don Action Group, which is dedicated to protecting the moors and valleys in the area, and was formed in 2013 following an outcry over a similar wind turbine near Bolsterstone.
Chairman John Hesketh said: “I’ve spoken to many people in the area. Most seem to share UDAG’s view that whilst wind turbines are a welcome source of renewable energy, they need to be sited sensitively.
“There is opposition to the positioning of a turbine as tall as a 15 storey block of flats next to historic Underbank Hall and in the green belt.”
Derek Plant, a keen rambler, who lives on the edge of Bolsterstone, is worried that the wind turbine would “desecrate” one the most tranquil parts of Sheffield’s ‘golden frame’ to the detriment of future generations.
