SHELBURNE – The town’s new small-scale wind energy system bylaw has been approved by the state Attorney General’s Office, according to Town Clerk Joseph Judd.

Judd said the state has approved by the bylaw, which allows on-premises wind turbines producing up to 30 kilowatts of electricity to be built in town, by special permit.

Also state-approved was the addition of “energy generation uses” added into the zoning table of regulations.

A copy of the approved law and the AG’s decision are available in the Town Clerk’s Office, the Arms and Shelburne libraries, the transfer station and the senior center. A public comment period, for any claim opposing the new bylaw, can only be made within 90 days of Sept. 5.
