Widow’s plea to wind farm operator

A distraught Rossnowlagh widow has implored a wind farm company to reconsider a decision asking her to sign a lease on her land for the erection of a 130-metre windmill, just 360 metres from her home.

Mother-of-four Anne Lipsett lost her husband, Christy Lipsett, who was tragically killed in an accident, when his tractor was in collision with another vehicle near Roadstone, on the Ballyshannon to Donegal Road last November.

Her world was turned upside down, but she was further distressed when she got a letter from the Acres Energy Ltd in January asking her to sign a lease giving her consent to the windmill near her home in Cashel, about two miles from Rossnowlagh.

“He died in November and it was very difficult, and then in January I am getting phone calls and letters to sign off from Acres Energy Ltd, a company owned by Element Power.

“They have a wind farm at the Acres where they will be putting up five windmills at 130 metres high,” she said.

“I have nothing against the people promoting the wind turbines but I do have a problem with having one so close to my home.”
