Stop Lincoln County wind farm

Credit:  Letter: Stop Lincoln County wind farm | Argus Leader | June 28, 2014 | www.argusleader.com ~~

My family lives on a farm half-way between Canton and Beresford, approximately 6 miles from Newton Hills State Park. This farm has been in my husband’s family since 1882. We are proud to be a century farm family.

We are in the target zone of Dakota Power Community Wind. This company is proposing a wind farm that will have up to 500 wind turbines over 400 feet in height.

In my opinion, this will destroy everything that living in the country stands for.

The negative aspects of noise, shadow flicker, stray voltage, etc. can have long-term bad health effects. It also will lower property values.

We would like to preserve the land and heritage handed down from our great-grandparents and pass it on to the next generations unspoiled by wind turbines.

Please – if you own land in this area and have not signed a contract – do not. Do your own research into this subject. Get better informed in all aspects of wind energy. It is not as green as this company claims. DPCW has vague details in its contracts that could leave you helpless regarding managing your land for up to 50 years.

If you are not a landowner here, or don’t live here, you can get involved and help us stop this by talking to friends and family about our plight.

Call your local and state representatives and let them know how you feel about it. Lincoln County is the third fastest growing county in the U.S. Why would we want that ruined by the ugly sight of 500 wind turbines?

Help us now to stop this company from ruining our land, health, parks and vistas.
