Lightning strikes home

Lightning during Tuesday afternoon’s fast-moving storms struck a home in the 500 block of County Road 4756 south of Boyd.
The lightning struck a wind turbine atop the home, starting a small fire. Boyd, Newark and Rhome firefighters responded to the blaze that was contained quickly. The home did suffer smoke damage
Wise County emergency officials responded to several calls for downed power lines during the storm that rolled through the county around 5 p.m.
