GREAT FALLS – Friday’s storms are to blame for damage done to a wind turbine at the Horseshoe Bend Wind Park near the Great Falls airport.
According to several KRTV viewers, lightning struck one of the six wind turbines around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, hitting one of the blades and partially melting it.
According to their website, the Horseshoe Bend Wind Park is owned and operated by United Materials, a local aggregate and highway construction company.
Meteorologist Matt Jones is headed out to gather additional information and we’ll update this story with new information as it becomes available.
