Wind monsters

Tri-City Herald | May 14, 2014 | www.tri-cityherald.com

I wrote about this a couple of years ago, but I received my power bill yesterday from the Benton PUD and it spurred me to write again. Does anyone out there agree with me that the incredibly ugly and unnatural wind power generation machines being hoisted up all over our beautiful Northwest are about the most garish monstrosities that man could place on the face of mother Earth? It seems that every pristine area we traverse out here is being defaced with these eyesores. I just love going over Ryegrass, passing through the Gorge or heading to Walla Walla and having to come face-to-face with a bunch of overblown boat propellers.

And for what? Because some liberal utopians can feel good about themselves as if these “clean machines” actually benefit society? Get real. They are contributing only 2.85 percent of the power mix. Less than coal, natural gas, nuclear power and of course hydro. If their use wasn’t mandated, they wouldn’t be here.

Join me in demanding that instead of considering the truly insane proposition of dam breaching, we concentrate on removing these hideous, three-armed monsters from what should be our unsullied surroundings!
