Opponents of wind farms in Cleburne County say they will not give up their fight to keep them out of their area. Many of them attended a county commission meeting on Monday.
The group is concerned about the scenic views, quality of life and property values in the area. Among other things, they want the commission to declare a moratorium on wind farms.
“We feel that our property rights are equally as valuable as the gentleman who wants to put the turbines on his property. I respect the property rights of anyone until it crosses that line and affects neighbors,” said Carolyn Doggett, in opposition of the wind farms.
The commission did not take action. Opponents say at least two wind farms are proposed for different areas of the county.
