State officials to host wind power noise workshops

By Associated Press | Apr. 02, 2014 | www.wptz.com

The Vermont Public Service Board will be hosting workshops about noise and electricity generation projects, including wind power farms, but opponents worry that new regulations will not apply to existing wind projects.

Annette Smith of Vermonters for a Clean Environment told The Caledonian Record that no one is addressing the ongoing noise issues from existing projects, which “makes it more difficult for people to have confidence in what the board is doing going forward.”

The first workshop will be held on April 29 in Montpelier about the science of sound standards. Another one will feature experiences of Vermonters living near electricity plants, especially wind power farms, and will be held on May 13.

Vermonters interested in participating should contact PSB by April 11.
