Big Wind, heading to Logan, Hardin Counties

A group of Indian Lake residents don’t want wind power in their backyards, or their front yards.

There was an informational meeting today by a group opposing a plan to bring the giant turbines to the lake area.

Wind energy is here and all around us.

Wind turbines, like the one’s in Van Wert and Paulding counties have been producing electricity for a few years, and generating income to local school districts.

Now “Big Wind” wants to change the landscape of Hardin and Logan counties.

Earlier this month, the Ohio Power Siting Board approved the Scioto Ridge Wind project, a 300 megawatt wind farm being developed by EverPower Renewable Incorporated of Great Britain.

More than 170 wind turbines are planned for Logan and Hardin counties and Don Eggenschwiller, who organized the meeting, is disappointed in our elected officials for not stopping this project.

Homes on the lake can be pretty expensive and people are afraid that locating wind turbines nearby could ruin the lake experience and drive the value of their property down.

Kelley Campbell just built a half a million dollar home on Indian Lake and is worried about the money invested in the home.

Construction on the Scioto Ridge Wind Farm could begin sometime next year.
