Council say no to wind farm plan

Brechin Advertiser | 28 March 2014 | www.brechinadvertiser.co.uk

At the meeting of the full Angus Council yesterday (Thursday), councillors rejected plans for a wind turbine farm at Nathro Hill on Careston Estate.

Councillors voted by 22 votes to three to throw out the proposals of energy firm Eurowind to develop a 61-megawatt, 17 turbine farm on the site.

The matter will now go to the Scottish Government for the final decision.

At a meeting of the full council councillors voted against the proposals primarily on the grounds that the impact on the landscape would be too detrimental. It was further stated that the plans were completely against council policy for the area and therefore why would Angus Council support them.
