South Huron wind protest

By Bob Montgomery on March 18, 2014 | blackburnnews.com

A group of people opposed to wind energy projects in South Huron urged South Huron Councillors to do more to oppose wind energy in the municipality.

Group spokesperson James Corcoran presented arguments against the minimum distances set by the province and pointed to the health problems wind turbines are causing.

He stated that while much of the municipality’s power had been stripped away by the Green Energy Act, other municipaliies were acting and South Huron should as well.
Corcoran said there were many unresolved concerns in the municipality and council should put a stop to any new approvals until those concerns are addressed.

He also pointed out that the Goshen project in South Huron will provide 0.16 per cent of the province’s energy needs and he suggested that was a huge impact on five thousand square kilometres of land for that amount of power.
