An appeal has been lodged against a 10-year permission granted to major windfarm in Upperchurch. North Tipp Co. Co. granted conditional permission on Jan. 27th to Ecopower Developments Ltd. to build 22 wind turbines (126.6ms in height), two meteorological masts (80ms in height) with wind measuring equipment attached.
On Feb. 27th, this decision was appealed to An Bord Pleanála. The plans have attracted considerable local opposition. Appeals have been lodged by: The Upperchurch Kilcommon Wind Awareness Group; Thomas, Bernadette and John O’Connell; Sinead and Tom Ryan; Paul and Edel Grace; Gerard and Mary Ryan Cooney; Ned and Carmel Buckley; Pat and Elizabeth Lee; Catherine and Patrick Maher; Emer Ó Siochrú and Toal Ó Muiré; An Taisce; Tanya and James Embleton; and Peter Sweetman and Associates. A case decision is due on or before June 25th.
