Wind turbine plans for Newstead and Annesley Country Park

By Denis Robinson | Hucknall Dispatch | 10 March 2014 | www.hucknalldispatch.co.uk

The planning go-ahead is being sought for a controversial wind turbine on Newstead and Annesley Country Park.

The Newstead Enterprise company, which runs the park, says the turbine would have a capacity of 1.5 megawatts and a tip height of 126 metres.

The project would supply electricity to the equivalent of 700 households.

A spokesman for the company said: “The wind turbine would help us to have a source of clean renewable energy to the park.

“It would also provide us with much-needed revenue to support the work of Newstead Enterprise to ensure that the park continues to thrive.”

Newstead Parish Council have decided to hold a special meeting to look as closely as possible at the proposal before the planning application takes place.

Members are also asking for a site visit before discussing the plan. They say the benefits of the proposed wind turbine need to be weighed against fears that the turbine would be a blot on the landscape.
