BP sells Pratt County interests

February 28, 2014 | www.pratttribune.com

BP Wind Energy has sold its interests in a proposed Ninnescah Wind Energy project for which it received a special use permit last September.

Pratt County Zoning Administrator Tim Branscom said that he contacted Karl Pierce, director of business development for BP, last week and was told that BP had sold its leases in the county to NextEra, a subsidiary of Florida Power and Light.

Landowners have begun receiving letters from BP, Branscom said. He reported on a conversation with Bickley Foster, a consultant to the zoning board, who told him “we can pick up where we left off with BP.”

Tribune calls to BP and to NextEra were not returned by 5 p.m. Friday.
