Changes to Goshen Wind Farm

(Huron County) –

Wind Developer Nextera has released some changes to its planned Goshen Wind Farm in Bluewater and South Huron.

Project Officer Nicole Geneau says while all of the alterations are on private property and have been made to accommodate lease-holders, a Notice of Change has to be filed.

Geneau says the changes are in three categories: modifications to infrastructure, disturbance pattern and transmission line sitting.

Road or collection line alteration form the first category – then disturbance pattern is next.

It involve changes to land configuration that result from development, the project’s footprint.

Finally, transmission line sitting varies from what was first proposed, and additional agreements with landowners had to be filed.

Geneau says in two instances turbine locations will change.

She says because of the changes, the six-month Renewable Energy Approval process was extended for the Goshen project – and that time is almost up.

Geneau says NextEra anticipates things are on track to start site preparations for the seventy wind-turbine development in April, with some of the heavier equipment not arriving until the following month.
