Waubra Foundation backs calls for more research into wind farms health impact

The anti-wind farm lobby group, the Waubra Foundation, says it is delighted Australia’s peak health research body has called for further research into whether wind farms affect public health.

The National Health and Medical Research Council’s review of research found no reliable or consistent evidence to link wind farms to health concerns.

However, the council is expected to call for more research into the issue.

The Waubra Foundation’s chief executive, Sarah Laurie, says studies are needed to help develop better wind farm planning policies.

“We’re delighted that the council has come out and said there’s a need for research, that’s what we’ve been saying for nearly three years and that’s what the Senate inquiry recommended in June, 2011,” she said.

“So that’s what needs to happen and the research needs to be done inside the homes of people who are reporting symptoms.”
