Charges laid after wind turbine rolls off transport truck

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has confirmed a driver and an operator have been charged after the mid section of a wind tower turbine fell off a transport truck on County Road 42 at Banwell Feb. 4.

Six charges have been laid against the driver and operator, who work for Equipment Express of Ayr, Ont., under the Highway Traffic Act.

The charges are:

Failure to produce permit (driver)
Part of drawn vehicle became detached (driver and operator)
Failure to comply with condition of permit (operator)
Insecure load (driver and operator)

The two were in alleged violation of a Municipal Multiple Trips Moving Permit, issued by the Corporation of the County of Essex.
