Expert disputes Suncor claims

By Melanie Irwin on February 12, 2014 | blackburnnews.com

An expert witness on industrial wind turbine noise has identified a number of deficiencies with the Cedar Point Wind Power Project in Lambton County.

Independent acoustical engineer Richard James says like many other wind developments, Suncor’s noise model doesn’t represent the predictable worst case conditions required by the Ministry of Environment Guidelines.

James says the 29 turbine project needs to be reevaluated. He believes the community would experience worse than predicted noise, especially during nighttime conditions.

In the meantime, Suncor’s lawsuit against the Town of Plympton-Wyoming will be heard in Sarnia Superior Court February 26 at 10am.

The energy company is challenging the municipality’s bylaws which include a 2 km setback and a deposit per turbine.
