Lambton County council has voted overwhelmingly against the county being a willing host for industrial wind turbines.
At its Feb. 12 meeting, council declared the county an unwilling host.
Ingrid Willemsen, spokesperson for the anti-turbine group W.A.I.T. (We’re Against Industrial Turbines), hopes the county decision helps stop or delay further wind projects.
She said “…individual municipalities have already voted like this so it’s just an extension of what they’ve already worked to do.”
Warden Todd Case said many lower tier municipalities in Lambton had already passed similar motions and would like to see the province halt future industrial wind turbine projects until heath concerns and other issues are addressed.
