K2 court appeal possible; Drennans may take fight against 140 turbine farm to the Court of Appeal

An Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh couple will likely appeal an Environmental Review Tribunal decision in favour of a proposed 140-turbine development near their farm.

Shawn and Trisha Drennan have been unsuccessful in their claim that the proposed K2 Wind Ontario development will harm their health.

The Tribunal decision brings closer the development that would see 12 turbines and a transformer station located close to their 300-acre farm.

The Tribunal says no witnesses presented professional medical opinions of the alleged harmfulness of the turbines and there was no reliable evidence to prove they’re detrimental to human health.

Shawn Drennan admits he wasn’t optimistic of a favourable outcome – saying the chances of winning such an appeal are slim.

He says he hasn’t spoken with his lawyer Julian Falconer yet but that he will likely return to Court to appeal the Tribunal ruling.
