DENMARK TOWNSHIP – The Denmark Township Planning Commission held a public hearing on Wednesday to listen to public opinion regarding the board’s recently drafted Wind Ordinance.

Approximately 50 residents were in attendance and a majority voiced their pleasure with the board and the created ordinance.

The residents in attendance were pleased that the Planning Commission listened to the wishes of the majority of people when drafting the ordinance.

“We want to thank the board for putting the welfare of the township above the wishes of a few,” said a resident during public comment.

Following the public hearing portion of the meeting, the Denmark Township Planning Commission unanimously voted to approve a resolution which accepted the drafted ordinance.

“We drafted this ordinance using the township’s Master Plan,” explained Planning Commission chairman Tim Rupprecht. “In the Master Plan it explains that it is the township’s wishes to preserve farm land. I feel like a majority of the people like our ordinance the way it sits.”

The document has already been approved by the township’s attorney and will go to the Denmark Township Board for final approval during its February meeting.

Residents may view a copy of the wind ordinance in its entirety at the Denmark Township Hall.
