Turbine battle rumbles on

Berwick Advertiser | 01 February 2014 | www.berwick-advertiser.co.uk

A long-running saga over a controversial wind-turbine scheme continues to cause issues in Wooler.

Robert Tait’s bid to build a 24.5-metre turbine at Highburn House Country Holiday Park was approved in January 2013. A neighbour’s appeal was dismissed last month.

The developer has applied to discharge a condition imposed when the plans were approved relating to the conducting of a TV-reception survey.

Councillor Anthony Murray said: “I will be complaining because I believe the developers have taken us to the cleaners on this.

“Condition 12 didn’t specify they had to take tests in houses, but that was what the committee meant. They have done a baseline study, but that does not mean certain properties will not be affected.

“I have made my stance very clear to the planning committee and I will continue to do so to get a fair deal for the local residents.”
