Wasaga Beach council is joining Collingwood in voicing concerns over plans for wind turbines near the airport.
At Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, councillors unanimously supported a resolution to be sent to the Ministry of the Environment.
It states that the Collingwood Regional Airport is an asset to tourism, business, health and safety and that an aviation safety expert’s report says WPD Canada’s plans for 8 turbines at Fairgrounds Road and County Road 91 will have a negative impact on the airport.
The resolution also states that Wasaga Beach supports Collingwood’s resolution that its council approved on January 13th.
Public comment, as part of the MOE’s review process, ends on February 1st and that’s why the town councils are voicing their concerns now.
