Wind turbine turned down at committee

Skegness Standard | 22 January 2014 | www.skegnessstandard.co.uk

A single wind turbine application proposed for a landfill site near Burgh le Marsh has been turned down due its impact on the area.

The 90 metre structure was set for Middlemarsh Landfill Site, Middlemarsh Lane with the planning permission being sought by FCC Environment UK Ltd, but Lincolnshire County council planners found its harm to outweigh the benefits and turned it down last Monday. (January 13).

Neil McBride, at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This planning application was recommended for refusal because the Ministry of Defence felt it would interfere with their radar systems. For this reason, it was contrary to the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework, and the requirements set out in the National Policy Statement for Energy and Renewable Energy Infrastructure.”

Planners discussed the impact on the visual appearance, its potential impact upon aviation safety, as well as its impact on the function and safety of the highway network and the amenity of nearby residents as a result of shadow flicker and noise.
