Mayors get both sides of wind project

Five Logan County mayors who turned out for the quarterly Mayors Association meeting Wednesday evening got to hear from both sides of the Scioto Ridge Wind Farm project.

At the start of the meeting, which took place in Belle Center, a group of Belle Center area residents spoke out against Everpower Renewables’ effort to build a 300-megawatt industrial wind development in northern Logan and southern Hardin counties.

Michael Shepherd, a resident of Taylor Creek Township in Hardin County, led the brief presentation in opposition to the development while Jason Dagger, the lone representative of Everpower, offered information from the company’s perspective.

“We’re here to show you as a community we mean business and as a community we are very upset,” Mr. Shepherd said before touching on concerns of the project, such as noise, shadow flicker, low-frequency sound, ice throw, concerns for emergency responders, the decommissioning plan and property devaluation.
