SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Investigators are working to figure out what caused a wind turbine to topple over in rural Western Pennsylvania. The turbine reportedly failed and fell to the ground Wednesday night in Springfield Township, Fayette County, outside of Mill Run. NextEra Energy Resources Director of Communication Steve Stengel told WPXI-TV the company owns and operates the Mill Run Wind Farm and said technicians found the toppled turbine Wednesday evening and that they are investigating the cause of the failure and fall. The wind farm has 10 turbines, Stengel said. The other nine are currently offline. No injuries were reported.
