The failings of wind energy

The Denver Post | December 18, 2013 | denverpost.com

Re: “Don’t wait on wind tax credit,” Dec. 16 editorial.

With more disappointment then surprise, I read this call for continued subsides for a renewable energy source that: 1) can never produce more than a small fraction of our energy needs because of a lack of sites adaptable to the associated sight and noise pollution; 2) has little incentive to reach profitability as long as subsidies continue; 3) kills large numbers of birds and recently was given permission to kill protected eagles without jeopardy for 30 years; and 4) has stolen the political stage from nuclear energy, the one non-carbon-dioxide-emitting energy source capable of meeting our future needs and trusted enough to care for our sons and daughters on naval ships and submarines.
