Proposed wind farm controversial

A firm called Golden West Energy is proposing to scatter our eastern edge of the county with 147, 40 story (423′) tall wind turbines. This endeavor is to basically send over 95 percent of the electricity generated to Excel Energy (Denver). Mountain View Electric, the local electric provider is not expected to benefit. A one-time payment of $1.6 million dollars is earmarked for the county. Most local residents from Ramah to Falcon and beyond will be impacted by their property value decreasing, loud low frequency producing, and light annoying windmills. Have you seen or been near Limon? Transmission towers will support the power lines from the Calhan area to the Public Service of Colorado substation in Falcon near 24 and Garrett Road. The proposed wind farm is in the middle of a fairly populated rural community of people that live out east for the quiet, peaceful, and serene views of Pikes Peak and the Front Range mountains.
Please show your support of the growing opposition to the proposal and contact your county commissioners (five) via email and/or phone to voice your opinion that you’re not in favor of this. The county commissioners will vote on this on Thursday, 9 a.m. at the Board of County Commissioners Hearing Room, Centennial Hall 200 So. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs. We could use your help to stop this.
