The highest of their kind

The Kerryman | 11 December 2013 | www.independent.ie

The ten wind turbines proposed for Finuge would be the tallest of their kind in the country, reaching to 156 metres (511 feet) in height from base to the tip of the highest vertical blade.

The proposed turbines are taller than the Great Pyramid at Giza and just under the height of the Washington Monument.

If given the go-ahead, the turbines will become the tallest man-made structures in the entire county, considerably taller than the turbines at Kilgarvan wind farm which are currently the tallest structures in Kerry.

They would even dwarf Cork County Hall – once famous for being the highest building in the Republic.
