Fresh moves on controversial wind farm plan

New environmental information has been submitted to a Devon council to support a controversial bid for six 375ft (115m) wind turbines.

Opponents of the scheme at St Giles on the Heath, fear the wind farm would “overwhelm the unspoilt natural landscape” and have raised concerns that populations of birds, bats and rare butterflies will be hit.

EDF Energy Renewables has now confirmed it has submitted supplementary environmental information to Torridge District Council in support of its planning application turbines at Hollow Panson.

The company originally submitted its plans for the 12MW development, east of the A388, between Launceston and Holsworthy, in December last year.

In response to a number of environmental issues raised during the public consultation period, the firm has tabled a series of new technical reports to update the environmental statement which accompanied its first application.

The new information includes revised noise assessments to address issues raised by the council’s noise consultant.

Further ecological work has also been carried out to consider any potential effects on dormice, bats and butterflies, as well as hedgerow species.
