Developers continue with Clifton wind farm despite judge’s rejection

By Catherine Pegram, Friday, December 13th, 2013 at wabi.tv

The developers of a wind farm project in Clifton say they’re not giving up on the plan, despite the fact a judge rejected the permit for it.

The head of the planning board says the judge voided the permit this week based on technicalities in the town’s wind energy ordinance.

Clifton residents Peter and Julie Beckford appealed the town’s decision two years ago to okay the plan.

The $25 million plan would build five wind turbines on Pisgah Mountain.

The Beckfords argued the turbines would be too close to cabins on their land and would exceed town noise limits.

The developers disagree and have already filed a second wind farm application.

We’re told the planning board is currently revising the town’s wind ordinance and will probably start looking at the developers’ new plan next month.
