Afix blame on turbines, let off some steam

Falmouth’s several wind generators have created a tremendous amount of controversy and consumed a lot of ink in the Times. As is often the case, there are two sides to this story and both sides appear to have good arguments.

The one question that has never really been answered is who approved placing these contraptions in their current locations? In any decision-making, it ordinarily boils down to the point where one or two persons end up signing a contract. Why have these individuals remained immune to the issue? Did they take the necessary steps of evaluating the merits of the purchase aside from the emotional decision that it sounds like a good idea?

Funds the town received from state or federal agencies is public money. It is therefore prudent that the apparently ill-researched decision to erect these towers should have at least passed muster with those persons whom might be harmed, e.g., nearby residents and taxpayers.

Someone’s job ought to be on the line for approving these towers when so much public money is put at risk. It is about time someone stand up and say “I made a mistake” because even if that does not fix the problem, it at least would let off some of the steam.
