As president of the Alabama Quarter Horse Racing Association, I am in the business of raising race horses that race in 15 states. I have had winners in New York, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico from horses raised on Lookout Mountain.
It is a proven fact that the noise from wind turbines is detrimental to the health of people, wildlife and, especially, horses. I am thankful to all those supporting “No Wind” in Alabama. I am hoping the peaceful, natural, quiet habitat currently enjoyed by my brood mares and foals is not destroyed.
The curving roads leading into the proposed sites on Lookout Mountain are not designed for such heavy equipment and transportation of 570-foot wind turbine parts. As well as destroying the roads, this will be a danger to all traveling on the mountain, including our school buses.
