Just say ‘no’

The Gadsden Times | December 5, 2013 | www.gadsdentimes.com

I am thankful for Sen. Phil Williams, R-Rainbow City, and Rep. Becky Nordrgren, R-Gadsden, for representing their constituents in Montgomery and also believing Lookout Mountain should maintain its pristine beauty, peacefulness and majestic trees.

I also am grateful to the Gadsden City Council, which recently voted unanimously to support Senate Bill 12, which proposes to regulate wind turbines in Alabama.

I am amazed daily by the current serenity of Lookout Mountain, as was Reader’s Digest, which named it one of America’s scenic drives. It is such a pleasure observing daily the abundant wildlife out my back window, including deer, turkeys, owls, hawks, bats and many bird species (snakes and coyotes … only minimal pleasure). I am happy to share it all with the hundreds of locals and tourists who travel the road each weekend and during the World’s Longest Yard Sale in search of such priceless scenery.

What residents of Etowah County are most prideful about is our mountain, our falls and our river. Let’s not subject any of these to the environmental destruction caused by wind turbines. All God’s creatures, great and small, deserve a place to live. Let’s not be a part of the destruction of their natural habitats. Just say “no” to Pioneer Green.
