Solway Firth wind farm opposition tabled

BBC News | 13 November 2013 | www.bbc.co.uk

Dumfries and Galloway Council has tabled formal opposition to plans for new wind turbines in the Solway Firth.

It comes as the deadline is reached for submissions as part of the Marine Scotland consultation.

The options being considered include extending the Robin Rigg wind farm and developing a new site at Luce bay.

SNP councillor Alistair Geddes said similar plans had been ruled out before and there was no information to merit changing their stance.

The Scottish government has stressed that the proposals were at the consultation stage and no decision had been made on any sites.

It said it would “listen, engage and take on board the concerns of communities”.
