The municipal body that governs six unincorporated towns and gores in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is going to ask property owners if they would support a plan for an industrial-scale wind project in Ferdinand.

In a Monday meeting in Brighton, the Unified Towns and Gores Board of Governors said it had received a proposal from Eolian (AY-oh-LEE-an) Renewable Energy of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to erect 20, 400-foot-tall wind turbines as part of the Seneca Mountain Wind proposal.

The board received the proposal Friday.

The unincorporated communities are Averill, Avery’s Gore, Ferdinand, Lewis, Warner’s Grant, Warren’s Gore. The area has 39 registered voters but more than 450 property owners.

The Caledonian Record (http://bit.ly/1buFDkv ) reported about 100 people attended the meeting, but only a handful of them were from the gores.
