After 10 years of development the number nine wind farm is proceeding with the permitting and construction. Tuesday nights open house was to reintroduce the project to people who may not have been updated.

Jeff Bishop, Senior Manager, government affairs EDP Renewables told us, “The main benefit of wind energy here is the economic development and the many opportunities that will come from this. During the construction process alone at that point alone a significant amount of money will be invested locally and will stay locally.. On going there will be job and economic opportunities that will come from any facility especially a wind farm.”

Bishop told us that this project is projected to cost around five hundred million, overall this project is going to be delivering up to 250 megawatz of power which will be delivered to the iso new England grid. Tuesday nights open house was a chance for the public to learn more about this project, however what we learned that not all people here in attendance were supporters.

“I’m presently sleeping in my garage to avoid the loud noise from the wind turbines so that I can have peace and tranquility something I moved up 446 miles from Rhode Island as a disabled veteran to get.” Michael Gosselin, a concerned Veteran told us.

Michael is currently being treated for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Military Sexual Trauma, and lives a little over a mile from a Wind turbine. He told us that the noise from it has a real impact on him. His reason for coming to the open house was to tell others about his experience,.

“i’m just worried about other veterans like myself that may find themselves is a situation where the noise would effect them as well.” Michael added.

I asked Bishop how he would respond to someone with concerns on this project. He said that EDP renewables are definitely looking to be actively involved and listen to any interesting concerns people may have going forward.
