Iberdrola, a Spanish company, has permission to build industrial wind turbines in The Green Mountain National Forest, some two miles from the George Aiken Wilderness.Wind towers are now much taller than the Statue of Liberty. New technology will be able to design a turbine for almost every site. The issue of wind power is a spinstorm; hard to find the truth, much less accountability. There’s going to be a free public discussion and viewing of “The Peak Keepers” DVD on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 7-9 p.m., in the Kiva, The Long Trail School. Whether you’re for a large-scale wind power, against, or dazed by the rush to build, this is a chance to learn fact from fiction, hear the latest on wind energy development, and understand the implications for our area.
