The Mentorskraal off-ramp heading into Jeffreys Bay was closed for several hours yesterday after a truck transporting the blade of a wind turbine, lost its load.

Project manager for the Jeffreys Bay wind farm Leon Quinn confirmed the incident happened at about 7am yesterday. The road was reopened shortly before 2pm.

The wind farm, which is expected to be completed by the middle of next year, is situated between Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp.

“The incident involved one of the abnormal load vehicles transporting the blade. The tail of the blade trailer went off the road,” Quinn said.

Cranes were mobilised to move the blade and trailer. Quinn said there were no injuries.
