Wind turbine protestors plan follow-up

Saturday’s anti-turbine demonstration that shut down part of Highway 402 may have been just the beginning.

A coalition of grassroots organizations meets today, planning the next move in their fight against the proliferation of hundreds of giant turbines in southwestern Ontario.

One of the options that will be discussed is to stage a similar protest along the 401 that would end at Queens Park in Toronto.

On Saturday, about 150 vehicles including tractors, pick-ups and even a manure spreader shut down the westbound 402 between the Forest cut-off and Strathroy.

Turbine opponents say they have little choice because the province is not listening to their concerns and has taken away the right of veto from the municipal level.
