Winchester City Council planners object to ‘alien features’ of wind farm at Woodmancott Down

Winchester planners have objected to the “alien features” of a wind farm in countryside at Woodmancott Down – just a few miles from Bullington Cross.

Officers say the six 130-metre masts would have an adverse impact on the unspoilt landscape of the Hampshire Downs both individually and cumulatively.

A report to be considered by the planning committee today said both Woodmancott Down and Bullington Cross wind farm proposals “would be visible as alien features breaking the skyline of the horizon in the long, panoramic views across the Itchen Valley and beyond from the South Downs National Park.”

It says the “excessive height and skyline dominance” of the turbines would affect views from “many cherished vantage points”.
