Small success for North Perth turbine opponents

A hurdle for a proposed wind turbine development is a “small success” for North Perth and other opponents.

That’s according to Mayor Julie Behrns, after learning Invenergy Canada’s application has been deemed incomplete by the Ministry of the Environment and returned.

Behrns feels the Ministry seems to be listening to concerns about the company’s alleged failure to recognize building permits issued since the project began. Behrns stresses, “this community has certainly shown that they are opposed to an industrial wind turbine development.”

She calls the MOE’s position, one small step in making sure if the project does “come to fruition” at least it is done properly.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, Invenergy Canada has the opportunity to re-submit the application.
The company’s intentions are unclear at this time. The original proposal is for 26 wind turbines on properties in North Perth and neighbouring Perth East.
