North Perth wind project stalled

By Shelley Miller-Cameron on October 9, 2013 | blackburnnews.com

It looks like a proposed wind turbine development in Perth County has stalled at the Provincial level. Ministry of the Environment Spokesperson Kate Jordan confirms the application for the Conestogo Wind Power Partnership was deemed incomplete during the review period.

Jordan says it has been returned to Invenergy Canada but points out the company has the opportunity to re-submit after reviewing the MOE’s comments. She stresses no new application has been received yet so “it cannot move forward at this point in time.”

The proposed project involves 26 wind turbines on properties in North Perth and Perth East. There has been strong public opposition from the municipalities, the Elma-Mornington Concerned Citizens group and other local stakeholders.

In an email response to CKNX News, Invenergy Canada’s Director of Business Development James Murphy states “we do not have any update at this time”.
