The Seanad has heard calls for the suspension of the granting of planning permissions for all wind farm developments until a new legislative framework to govern wind farm developments is introduced.
The call was made by Senator Brian O’Domhnaill.
The issues has been a controversial one, not least in County Donegal. where there is a strong opposition to windfarms.
Senator O’Domhnaill says the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government needs to take action and block the granting of permissions under the current guidlines:
Senator O’Domhnaill was told in the Seanad by Minister for Housing and Planning Jan O’Sullivan that rather than a legislative framework, new guidlines were being developed and that was the favoured option:
