A warning on wind turbines from MEP

East Lothian Courier | 2 Oct 2013 | www.eastlothiancourier.com

Scottish Conservative MEP Struan Stevenson has told East Lothian Conservatives that “we all stand to suffer from the growing scourge” of wind turbines.

The group welcomed Mr Stevenson as guest speaker at a Lunch at Duck’s at Kilspindie House in Aberlady on September 20, where the Euro MP stated that the UK’s economic turnaround had benefited Scotland.

He also maintained that this progress needed to be safeguarded against those who would threaten sustained economic recovery.

Mr Stevenson said: “The time has come for Scotland to rethink its relationship with wind turbines. We all stand to suffer from the growing scourge of these wind factories and the damage they do to our landscape, economy and national prosperity, all for a negligible return on energy and environmental benefit.

“We must continue to fight against misguided policies that threaten our sustained economic recovery and instead focus on providing the conditions in which business, industry and hardworking Scots can thrive.”

Mr Stevenson, who is not seeking re-election next year, was accompanied by Dr Ian Duncan, who heads the list of Scottish Conservative candidates contesting the European Elections next year.

Dr Duncan commented that the European Union had lost its way, but the Prime Minister’s promise of a referendum had afforded the opportunity to get the EU back on track.
