Anti-turbine campaigner’s rallying call

East Lindsey Target | October 1, 2013 | www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk

A wind farm opposer has called on the people of Louth to give more support to outlying villages who are affected by wind turbine applications.

Andrew MacLaren has called on Louth Town Councillors to support villages such as Ludborough, Yarburgh and beyond which are being affected by proposals for wind farms.

He said: “Wind farm developers are well on the way to covering the Wolds to the sea with industrial turbines.

“Those of us who live in the outlying area see Louth as a haven for wind farm supporters.

“Louth needs to look at itself – why should we shop in a town where Louth does not care for its neighbours.”

He also questioned Councillor James Pocklington’s declarations of interest as a member of Transition Town Louth and the Lincolnshire Pro-Wind Alliance campaign.

He said: “I checked before coming to this meeting and if you have declared an interest, your paperwork has not caught up yet.”

Councillor Pockington said he declared being a member of Transition Town Louth when he joined the council.

He said: “Everyone knows my stance. There is no financial interest I just think wind power is the right thing.”
