The fight over a proposed wind farm near Piedmont seemed inevitable to someday end up in a court room, especially after Piedmont’s city council agreed this month to join a anti-wind farm organization in a potential lawsuit against a wind energy company.
But those who want to see the wind farm built appeared to be the first to fire a shot on the legal battlefield as a group of landowners outside of the city filed a lawsuit in Kingfisher County court that named the City of Piedmont as a defendant.
