Unbiased panel needed to assess turbines’ impact

Before we build any more extremely expensive wind turbines, only to pay an even more costly bill to have them dismantled, we need to take a close look at their true costs.

That is why I support state Rep. Sarah Peake’s bill (H. 2048) that commissions the commonwealth to convene an unbiased health commission to study the human health impacts of industrial wind turbines. I say “unbiased” because the recent DEP panel set up to study the issue consisted of Gov. Patrick’s cherry-picked group of wind power advocates, which was a shocking example of the fox guarding the henhouse.

Maybe it sounds funny that seemingly benign wind turbines would cause serious health impacts. But they laughed at Galileo and Pasteur, too. People all over the world, many of whom were very vocal advocates of wind power and encouraged them in their neighborhoods, are experiencing adverse, life-damaging health effects from the sound and pressure caused by wind turbines.
